The Basics

There are a variety of ways to see Hollywood, from open-air bus to trolley and bike tours. Most of the sights line up neatly along a 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) stretch of Hollywood Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and Vine Street.

Gaze upon many celebrity homes—from the exterior only—on sightseeing tours of the area, particularly in Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Hills; or, combine a city tour with a visit to nearby theme parks including Universal Studios Hollywood or Disneyland® Resort. Full-day tours to Hollywood run from Los Angeles, Anaheim, and even Las Vegas.

Great views, stories, and more
Our guide George made the hike memorable with stories about LA, Hollywood, and movies. Great views and excellent way to spend an evening in LA away from the hustle. We ended our tour at Griffith observatory and watched a show at the planetarium (not included in the tour).

Hollywood Bike Tour
Erik was so much fun. My family is very opinionated and think they are funny - we can overwhelm some guides. Erik could come to family parties - he hung with the crew and did a great job making us feel heard - he laughed and sang with us! Thanks for an amazing day.

Haunted Hollywood: Private City Game
Great way to see LA from a different perspective. Probably works best at nighttime, thus saving you the walking under the summer’s scorching sun!

I had a blast on my tour with George from Hikes & Bikes! We had a great group and he was so fun knowledgeable, and witty. Can’t recommend this more but be ready for some heights and a few slippery spots but it was amazing!

Hollywood Bike Tour
My son and I were excited to bicycle around Hollywood with a tour guide. This tour did not disappoint!! Our tour guide Kris was very friendly and knowledgable about the history of Hollywood. This is a 3 hour tour that gets you up close and personal with landmarks. This tour is well worth the money spent!!

Griffith Observatory Hike: Hollywood Hills Walk in Griffith Park
Matt our tour guide was very informative and polite, had to deal with some uncharacteristic behavior from a few members of our group, but handled it in a professional manner. So glad he had water for us since we forgot to bring some.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Driving is the main way to get around Los Angeles, but traffic jams are common and time-consuming; plan accordingly.

  • It’s often sunny in LA, so bring sunglasses or other sun protection. Tote a light layer too, as temperatures can drop as the sun sets.

  • Private tours often include round-trip transportation from area hotels.

  • Hollywood is wheelchair accessible, as are many of the neighborhood's attractions.

When to Get There

Los Angeles is famous for its nearly year-round sunshine but receives the most visitors in summer. Visit in the shoulder seasons for a quieter experience, but keep in mind that this neighborhood draws crowds the entire year.

Must-See Sights Around Hollywood

One of the can’t-miss attractions along Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Museum is something of a temple to the stars, crammed with posters, costumes, and rotating props from classic films. Other museums worth a look include Ripley’s Believe Or Not!, the Guinness World Records Museum, and the Hollywood Wax Museum, while the Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood Roosevelt, and the Dolby Theatre are other highlights. At the famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine, you can see the Capitol Records Tower and the legendary Hollywood Sign.
